How it Works

Applying for your own background check is easy – you’ll simply follow the process outlined below:


Fill out the on-line application

You will need to supply some basic identity information such as name and date/place of birth. At this time you will also pay for the service. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.


Schedule your fingerprinting appointment

DTIS provides electronic fingerprint services ("livescan") at approximately 80 The UPS Stores locations across the state of Florida. You can find your nearest location here.


Visit The UPS Store to be fingerprinted

When you go for your fingerprinting appointment you will need to bring:

  1. A government issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, state ID, military ID, etc.)
  2. A copy of a recent utility bill or bank statement that shows your name and address as entered on the application form

If the name or address differs on any of your identity documents you will need to bring other documents that explain the difference


Retrieve your Report Online

You will be notified by email when your report is available for retrieval (usually within 24 hours of being fingerprinted). You will login to the DTIS results portal and will then be asked to enter a One-Time-Passcode (OTP) that will be sent to your phone. You will then be prompted to download the report to your computer. If you don't have access to a phone that is registered in your name, the report will be mailed to your home address.


Please note, in order to comply with FBI regulations you must retrieve your report within 30 days. After that, the report will be deleted. If you failed to retrieve your report within the allotted time frame DTIS will not refund your Double Check fee
